Lecturer Pool

The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is developing an on-going pool of qualified instructors for one or more part-time, temporary teaching positions for introductory and advanced courses in Astronomy and Astrophysics. The introductory courses are designed mainly for non-science majors and standard texts and/or readers may be used for these classes. Topics may include introductory astronomy, the solar system, stellar structure and evolution, planets, high energy astrophysics, extragalactic astronomy, and cosmology.

RANK: Lecturer

SALARY: Range is $6,500 -$8,500 per course, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent in Astronomy or Astronomy and Astrophysics preferred. University teaching experience or demonstrated potential for teaching.

POSITION AVAILABLE: As openings occur starting fall quarter 2003.
