Tips for New Faculty

The following are a variety of suggestions and resources for the new faculty member:

Packets sent to new faculty/candidates:

Interview Visit Packet: This is an online "packet" that is recommended as a resource for the candidates coming to campus for an interview.

Offer Packet [pdf]: The final candidates receive this packet along with their offer letter. Here you can view an online table of contents.

New Faculty Quick Guide: Once a final candidate accepts an offer of employment, Academic Personnel sends this final packet to the new employee. It includes some of the important tasks that the new faculty member need to complete.

Department Offices: Department managers and their staffs are knowledgeable and helpful. Many departments provide manuals that are great to keep on hand for quick consultation. For example:
Math Department Manual
Engineering Faculty and Visitor Handbook

Faculty Seminars and Workshop : A quarterly publication that lists free workshops, seminars, and discussion sessions available to faculty on teaching, research, technology, diversity, personal development, career/advancement, and on-line courses.

Library Privileges for you or your family members

New Faculty Welcome: Academic Personnel organizes the New Faculty Welcome at the beginning of the Fall quarter. The event usually consists of an orientation during the day and a family-friendly reception in the evening. You will have the opportunity to meet key administrators as well as network with your cohort.
